The Charter Buyer's Matrix

Charter vs Jet Card vs Fractional vs Ownership

Four ways to fly private, one axis: how much you commit up front versus how much flexibility you keep. Charter is the only column where the answer to both is on your side.

How Instant Quoting Works

From request to wheels-up, without the runaround

No membership gate, no "we'll get back to you in a day." Your route is priced against live Part 135 availability and you choose the option — not the catalog.

Send your route

Origin, destination, date, passengers, cabin preference. Two taps, no account.

Three options, priced

Live Part 135 aircraft in your class — typically value, balanced, and premium picks side by side.

You pick, we hold

Select the tail that fits. We confirm crew duty, slots, and FBO, then hold the aircraft for you.

Wheels up

Operational control sits with the FAA Part 135 carrier. We stay on the trip until you're on the ground.

When Charter Wins

The trips where the math flips to charter

If your hours are variable, your destinations are open, or you'd rather keep capital working elsewhere — the card and fractional models quietly cost you. Charter is built for exactly these cases.

Variable hours year to year

Card and fractional bill you the same whether you fly 12 hours or 50. Charter prices the trip you actually take.

Best fit: 5–60 hrs/yr

Multi-region & international

One tail can't cover 174 countries. Charter sources the right aircraft from the right region — no ferry from across the continent.

Best fit: open itineraries

Right jet per mission

Turboprop for a 200-mile hop, super-midsize for the coast-to-coast, heavy for the team roadshow. Same relationship, different tail.

Best fit: mixed missions

Capital stays liquid

No $500k card deposit, no $2M share buy-in. The dollars you'd lock in a membership stay invested — and charter scales with you, not ahead of you.

Best fit: capital-efficient flyers
Charter, Explained

What buyers ask before the first quote

The mechanics behind one-way pricing, repositioning, quote validity, operational control, and aircraft selection.

One-way vs round-trip pricing — how does it actually work?

Charter is quoted per trip, not per seat or per membership hour. A one-way quote reflects the cost of positioning the aircraft to your departure airport. If you return the same day from the same airport, the aircraft waits — usually cheaper than two separate one-ways. If the return is from a different airport (open-jaw), it's quoted as a second segment.

Your advisor surfaces one-way, same-day round-trip, and a reduced-reposition alternative so you can pick the version that actually fits your schedule.

What is repositioning — and am I paying for an empty leg?

Repositioning is the ferry flight that moves an empty aircraft from where it currently sits to your departure airport. That empty leg has a real cost (fuel, crew, airport), and a portion may be reflected in your quote.

Advisors route the nearest suitable Part 135 aircraft first to keep that ferry short. When an empty leg aligns with your direction of travel, the saving is passed through as a lower quote option.

How long are instant charter quotes valid?

Indicative quotes are typically held for 24 to 72 hours, after which aircraft availability, crew duty, and pricing may shift. Once you select an option, your advisor confirms live availability and issues a formal quote for hold.

"From" prices shown anywhere on this site are estimates, not guaranteed fares. The binding number is the formal quote issued at hold.

Who holds operational control of the aircraft?

Private JetOne is an air charter broker under 14 CFR Part 295 — not a direct air carrier. Operational control of every flight is held by the FAA-licensed Part 135 carrier that operates the aircraft.

Private JetOne arranges the charter and presents the options; the Part 135 carrier is responsible for the safe conduct of the flight, crew, and operational decisions.

Can I request a specific aircraft type?

Yes. You may name a make and model — for example a Citation XLS, Challenger 350, or Gulfstream G550 — and your advisor will target that type. Where ARGUS or Wyvern-rated operators are available in that type, they're surfaced first.

If the requested model is unavailable on your date, you receive comparable aircraft in the same cabin class with pricing side by side, so you can choose by cabin, range, or price.
